Belinda graduated from Sydney University, Cumberland Campus in 1993, with a degree in Speech Pathology. She completed her Masters in Applied Linguistics in 1996 at Macquarie University. Her dissertation focused on ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), in particular, Semantic Pragmatic Disorder.

Belinda established Belinda Hill & Associates Speech Language Pathologists in 1995 to assist children, adolescents and adults with communication and literacy impairments. She has worked closely with numerous associates in her team. The practice has grown to include 4 full time speech-language pathologists, an office assistant, full time receptionist and practice manager.

Belinda’s particular areas of interest include verbal dyspraxia (also known as CAS-childhood dyspraxia of speech), holding the position of Vice President of the Australian Dyspraxia Support Group from 1998-2001.

She has a personal and professional interest in ASD and so is consistently devising new programs to assist children with difficulties with play, socializing and communication. She has created language programs using computers, videos and visual systems with children requiring a non traditional approach to therapy.

Belinda has negotiated and been successful in securing school contracts to provide training, assessment and therapy services within a given budget. She has provided these services in both urban and rural areas.

In 2002 Belinda first published 3 books in the TheraBee speech and language series. She now has 12 programs available for purchase covering speech, language and literacy skills for children and adolescents. The programs have proven popular Australia wide, in addition to New Zealand, South Africa and Europe. The programs are suitable for parents, teachers, aides and therapists to use.

Belinda held a teaching position at Nepean College of TAFE from 1998-2001, teaching adults with acquired brain injury communication and literacy skills.

In 2004 Belinda was awarded with “Penrith Business Person of the Year” and in 2005 repeated the title in addition to winning an award for “Specialised Business”.

Belinda works closely with the Speech-Language Pathologists in her team, ensuring that they have access to current test and therapy resources. All therapists are members of The Speech Pathology Association of Australia and participate in the continuing professional development program. This involves updating skills through workshops and reviewing and discussing current literature.

The therapists at the practice are dedicated to providing quality speech and language programs that allow children, adolescents and adults with a communication difficulty to be happy and successful members of the community. The practice is consistently evolving to ensure it is family friendly and reflects current research.
